What is Artillery?

There is alot to know about when it comes to artillery. The first recorded use of artillery was at the battle of Crécy in 1346. Its evolution was slow. At one time in history, it was unprecidented to shoot a cannon more than once per day, because the mud in the end of the gun had to dry. In fact, there were those burned as witches for firing a cannon an unprecidented 3 times in a day! By the time of the American War Between the States (Civil War), artillery had made leaps in technology. The development of rifling (What causes a shell to spin like a football) greatly improved the distance and accuracy of guns. A great website for everything artillary is here.
